This week's prompt is "8 Lines."
I am thinking of you
Hoping and praying the chemo works
I want to visit but so afraid of exposing the family to germs
I am cooking for your family
Offering to run errands and go grocery shopping
Offering to go to dinner or to just lend an ear
But at the end of the day
I feel so helpless

I could have written this today about my friend. It sucks feeling so helpless. (Hugs)
ReplyDeleteYes, it does, Rachael! I am sorry about your friend!
ReplyDeleteAh... hits home. I worry about bringing the kids to see my Nana these days... and, sadly, its all that she (and my children) want.
ReplyDeleteI don't know another 8 lines more people could relate to...cancer sucks
ReplyDeleteIt certainly does suck!!! Thanks for stopping by, Coffee Lovin' Mom!
ReplyDeleteHey Monkey...it is so heartbreaking that when people need the visits the most, it can't happen! So sorry about your Nana!
ReplyDeleteI have this same helpless feeling about my mother in law who is battling cancer right now....but in another town from me. It really adds an extra layer of grief and frustration when you feel like you can't be as helpful as you would like for someone you love. Praying for your family.
ReplyDeletei am so sorry to hear that, Tracie! Thank you for the prayers! Will pray for yours as well.
ReplyDeleteYou may feel helpless, but the love and genuine caring is all that is needed in this situation. It's the best you can do.
ReplyDeleteStopping by from writers workshop: http://zemeks.blogspot.com/2011/11/12-things-ive-done-that-you-probably.html

ReplyDeletecancer is no fun :(
ReplyDeleteThanks, Supahmama! Unfortunately, only family members can visit right now per the family's request. =(
ReplyDeleteYou are certainly right, Poetry of the Day!!!
ReplyDeleteIt is good to know such a caring person. I hope things turn out OK for your friend.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you feel so helpless, Nicki, considering you are such a helpful person! Take care. XXX
ReplyDeleteHey gorgeous lady, I've nominated you for a Liebster Blog Award. Check out my blog for the details. xx
ReplyDeleteThank you, Betsy! I hope so too!
ReplyDeleteCaz, this is killing me but I keep reminding myself it isn't about me; it is about the family. Thankfully, they have asked for help with cleaning up the leaves in the yard so there is something I can do!
Thanks also for the nomination. Going to lunch now and will certainly check it out later! xoxoxo
A package is on its way to your house!!
ReplyDeleteHope it brings a smile with it. =)
I got it, Tracie! Thanks! I Love the cozy and ate the M&M's right away! =)
ReplyDeleteOhmahgosh...you just made me all teary eyed! I have a good friend that is facing surgery and chemo/radiation starting next week. She is only 30 years old, she has 4 babies. :( It is a very helpless feeling.
ReplyDeleteAngelia, I am so sorry for your friend!! How incredibly sad. I will pray for her and her family...and for you as well. It is a very helpless feeling but all we can do is be ready to jump as soon as the family gives us a clue that they are ready to accept help. I am thankful that my friend said that tomorrow would be a good day to visit her hubbie because she needs to work and he needs company. I am bringing more soup because he loved it last time and needs to eat!
