Sooooo...my addiction continues. Made another trip to Physical Graffiti yesterday to get more ink. I started the tattoo tribute to my mom. To finish it, I have to go back 2 more times and allow full healing of the previous work in between trips. I am not a patient person but knowing I have to wait and planning for it is much better than me showing up prepared to get inked then be told, "We can't do it for a couple weeks because you are not healed yet." Grrrr.
So, I will be adding a Blue Jay tattoo flying above the sun, earth and stars and the stars will swirl all around the baby footprint tattoos on my upper arm. It will be a quarter sleeve when it is all said and done and then maybe, just maybe, I will have fulfilled my ink addiction and I will be able to stop. Eh...who the heck and I kidding? Do I worry about what they will look like when I am old? Well, of course but here is the thing...I won't be happy with any part of my body when I am old so why the heck should some ink bother me? At least I enjoyed the tats while I had the chance!
So, here is what I have so far.
 |
| My first tattoo ever. I was scared so I got a little lady bug. I ended up getting bigger ones when people told me it looks like a mole! |
 |
| My favorite tattoo!!! My kids' names and birth dates with the cherub. Left shoulder blade. |
 |
| My second and third tattoos. Calvin as a medic and Hobbes as his patient. Will add stars and swirls around Hobbes' head at some point to make him look hurt. =) Pay no attention to the spider veins on the leg!!! Right outer thigh. |
 |
| Small star on left foot. Bad pic....not jaundice! |
 |
My "Terror Management Theory Tattoo." Not happy with the roses. They look like colorful testicles but oh well. I love the rest of it.
BTW...for anyone interested in psychology...Terror Management Theory states that when death is salient, we cling more tightly to our religious and cultural worldviews. Since I got this on 9/11/2010, I'd say that is a good theory. =) |
 |
| Part of a larger tattoo in honor of my mom Jay ("Jay Bird") to remind me she is still with me. Left forearm. |
 |
| My kids' foot prints. More of Mom tattoo will be worked around this one when these are fully healed. Left upper arm/shoulder. |
That is all for now. I will update ya on the rest as I get it! Hope you are all enjoying your summer...or winter for my Aussie friend!! =)))
I am seeing more and more tattoos around in my daily life. I don't have any, but I can certainly understand the feelings behind each of them. They make you happy, so that is a good thing.
ReplyDeleteThey do make me happy! I know there will be times when I want to wear a dress and say "crap!!" but those days are few and far between!!
ReplyDeleteI can totally understand the addiction and maybe that's why I still haven't got any! I think once I get one, I'll want more. I'm trying to convince hubby to get matching ones together! My winter is dragging on slowly, thank goodness -I'm an Aussie but do not enjoy the heat and humidity of summer!! Wish I could move somewhere where it was Autumn or Spring all year round! XX
ReplyDeleteMatching ones would be sooo cute!!! My husband won't ever even consider one. He passes out at the sight of needles! The fall is my favorite season! I love the smell of the air, the color of the leaves and just everything about it except that winter follows! =)
ReplyDeleteWell look at you go! You would fit in perfectly in Portland, OR. (Some days I feel like the only person in town without a tattoo ;-> )
ReplyDeleteYeah, Ann, it's getting a little crazy! I need to slow down!
